Healthy eating is not merely a test. There are a lot of healthy eating guidelines available even if there are not hard rules. In order to lose stored fat on your body you must take in fewer calories than you burn, over a year, month or week.

A key though to keep in mind is that cheating a couple of times, slipping up or eating at a restaurant are not diet failures.

A good 50% of the women polled admitted that they had lied about food they had consumed. Lying about it only reinforced feelings of guilt and secrecy. Try finding a friend you can talk to instead of lying about your bad day. This should be someone who will cheer you on and not judge you or make you feel worse than you already do.

Guam, Chen, et. al., writing in the journal Cell Metabolism, were interested in researching the action of a specific bombesin receptor, called Bombesin Receptor Subtype-3 (BRS-3). In the design of their experiment, the authors used two experimental chemicals on lab rats, attempting to effect the action of this receptor. If the results were promising, this research could be extended to development of a human medicine to control obesity.

When the first chemical was applied to a group of lab mice, it had the effect of interfering with the action of BRS-3. And, as thought, the researchers shown that the animals began to eat a lot more food as the action of this receptor became impaired, and consequently gained weight.

The second compound produced stunning results. Strengthening the action of bombesin at this receptor, the animals both ate less, and increased their metabolic rate – meaning that they reduced their appetite, and increased the amount of energy burned. An ideal situation for weight loss!

Additionally, the researchers wrote that no side effects were seen during the course of this research. However, as it lasted only two weeks, more research needs to be performed. More exciting was the finding that the action of bombesin was not affected by other efforts to control metabolism. This hints at the possibility that a compound medication could be developed and would work at multiple levels.

To be sure, a lot more study needs to be done to prove out that any developed medication is both safe and effective when it is ultimately sold. But, one can’t help but be excited that a pill to control obesity may soon become available.
