Airsoft Guns – First Began In Japan

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

What are Airsoft Guns and are they dangerous? An Airsoft gun is a gun that works based on air. The pumping action is what makes an Airsoft gun work, the more pumps that you give your gun the faster and harder it will propel. The Airsoft gun is not your regular BB gun. The only thing the two have in common is that they both look similar to a real gun or weapon. An Airsoft gun will shoot 6mm plastic BBs.

Due to the laws only certain people or citizens can own a firearm, but in most countries owning an Airsoft gun is legal. Owning a toy that looks real and scares off criminals and robbers is all the protection that most people need in order to feel safe.

Japan first introduced the Airsoft guns in the 70s. People wanted to feel protected and own a firearm but it was against the law so Mauri came up with the idea to make a gun that looked real yet was not life-threatening when shot. The spring loaded gun became the gas powered and then onto the electric gun.

The shots from the Airsoft gun are made to be powerful enough to burn or sting if hit but will not give life-threatening injury. When shooing any firearm always remember to take safety steps and protect your eyes. The BBS of the Airsoft guns can break the skin but will not go through.

When looking for an Airsoft gun don’t become surprised when you see all of the guns on the market to choose from such as CO2 pistols, spring guns, BB gun and the Airsoft electric gun is just a few you may see. But it doesn’t stop here; you can also find accessories just as if you owned a real firearm such as holsters, lasers and safes.

How do I know it’s not a real firearm? This is a question that a lot of people want to know that are in the market to purchase an Airsoft gun but look in the black market instead of a retailer. They want to find a quick product. All Airsoft guns are federally regulated by law to come with an orange tip so if they are quickly looked at they will not be mistaken as a real firearm. An Airsoft gun is a play or toy gun.

The two most popular Airsoft guns on the market are the electric gun and the gas powered gun. The electric gun runs on batteries so that it is like an automatic gun which continuously shoots. The gas powered Airsoft guns works similar to CO2 guns but the difference is that a CO2 gun runs on disposable cartridges and a gas powered Airsoft gun works from a refillable canister which is sold separately and refills the gun.

There are multiple types on Airsoft guns on the market today so no matter what your needs are I am sure that you will find one that meets your needs as well as your price budget. As with buying any type of firearm or Airsoft gun always consult with your local gun store before you make your purchase.

The Difference Between Pump, Electric, And Gas Airsoft Guns

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

If you want to buy airsoft guns, you will need to be at least eighteen years of age, or know someone who is. Most places will require you to present your ID before you can buy their products. Next, you will have to choose the type of gun you want. Airsoft guns are available in pistol, rifle, automatic, and sniper rifle versions. They also come in electric, pump, and gas form. There are differences in the way each type of gun handles and operates. You will also want to pick a gun that has authentic features, if that is what you are interested in. These factors can all affect the overall performance of your airsoft gun.

If you are looking for a straight shooter, to hit targets at great distances, you will want to choose a rifle. If you want a gun that is easy to handle and small, then a pistol will be your best option. If spraying tons of shots per second sounds like fun to you, then an automatic airsoft gun will be your favorite gun type. Once you have decided on the type of gun that you want, you will need to know if you want your gun to be a pump, electric, or gas gun.

If you choose a pump gun, you may discover that it can be a hassle to constantly have to pump the gun to shoot each time. Some of these guns can be the most powerful guns on the market, but they may not be convenient if you are looking for an easy way to shoot.

Electric airsoft guns are some of the best airsoft guns available. They are great for automatic firing and their accuracy can be quite good too. If you like to blow away your target with a ridiculous amount of shots, then electric airsoft guns will be your favorite choice. They come in automatic and single shot versions. They do not have as much power behind their shots as the other types typically.

If you are looking for an airsoft gun that packs a punch, you will love either pump or gas guns. These guns are more powerful generally, but you cannot shoot as much per charge. This makes electric guns superior according to some people. Accuracy is not usually that type of shooter’s biggest concern though. If you are looking for a good gun for target practice, then you will probably love gas airsoft guns.

Electric guns are a great option for any airsoft gun enthusiast. These are great for every need there is really. One of the best parts about electric guns is that they don’t have to be pumped. The next best part is that you can get them as automatics. Automatic guns can be a lot of fun. Automatics are a great choice if annihilating your target with a hailstorm of shots is your favorite thing to do.

Another option that you have is gas powered airsoft guns. These are great guns for both accuracy and power. There is a limited amount of shots you can take per gas cartridge with these guns. This is not a problem usually, because you can just replace the spent canister easily.

Gas powered airsoft guns are great for accurate shots at high velocities. You will be able to hit targets at great distances too. Gas airsoft guns can be a solid all around choice, if you don’t care about the requirement of gas cartridges.

The History Of Airsoft Guns

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Airsoft guns are highly detailed replica firearms that are manufactured primarily for recreational purposes. Games are organized where players attempt to shoot each other in a similar manner to paintball. They fire small pellets, rather than actual bullets, at speeds of 30 to 260 miles per second.

These pellets are usually propelled by some kind of compressed gas or perhaps a spring based piston. An electric piston may also be used. The guns can be fired manually or by an electric motor or by compressed gas, which is usually propane, green gas or Co2.

Airsoft guns are aimed at people over the age of sixteen. When handled carefully they can be safe, though some have voiced concerns about the use of airsoft guns. As the pellets are usually non-metallic and travel far too slowly, they cannot actually penetrate the flesh. However, though pellets made of metal are banned on every Airsoft site, they can still be bought from specialists. Some people also manufacture metal pellets for their own use.

In addition, a non-metallic pellet could penetrate the skin at short distances, when a gun is upgraded to higher than 150 miles per second. Some sites will specify that these kinds of guns should not be used to play with when they have been upgraded in this way. There was also a concern of these guns being used in place of actual weapons during criminal activities.

There was a spate of holdups during the late 1990s where the perpetrators used airsoft guns. These were obviously much easier to obtain than real weapons, but could serve a similar purpose. To counter this it is now illegal to import an airsoft gun that does not have a bright orange tip on the barrel.

1970s Japan is the unlikely origin of the airsoft gun. Back then it was against the law to own a real gun, and so there was a great demand for replica weaponry. One or two companies began to manufacture a realistic looking gun that had a spring loaded firing system. Many different sizes of bullet were used in the original run of these replicas. However, the projectiles were eventually standardized at 6 and 8 mm caliber. The gas powered guns followed in the late 1980s.

The pastime came to America in the 1990s. The first wave of Japanese guns on the open market would become known as “classic airsoft”. A decade later the next generation of airsoft guns became available. They were designed by the Tokyo Marui company and became known as the automatic electric gun. Japan had just started to go into recession when these products were launched. Japanese manufacturers began to collapse at an alarming rate, leaving only Tokyo Marui as the main manufacturer of airsoft.

Tokyo Marui worked to improve the accuracy of their guns and developed their advanced Hop up system. This system forms the basis of almost all of the modern airsoft guns. Tokyo Marui’s dominance was challenged in the early part of this decade by the Classic Army of Hong Kong. This company produced its own guns in direct competition to Tokyo Marui. Tokyo Marui has also been threatened by the growth of Chinese companies that produce cheap, entry level guns and supply them to the American market.

Airsoft Guns Need To Be Taken Seriously

Saturday, October 10th, 2009
by Anthony Carter

On the table in front of you lie two weapons – both look fierce and very dangerous, but one is the real deal, the other one of many airsoft guns, a toy made in China. You have the luxury of having a second look or even to pick these guns up to decide which is which, but in a real life situation where these guns may be pointed at you by robbers, you have to decide how to react immediately.

What was once a toy with no killing powers on the table; has become a life threat in the hands of criminals. So if ever you find yourself with a gun pointed at you – never assume that it may be a toy. Always take guns seriously.

From the very first time these airsoft guns arrived in stores, they proved to be a clear winner in sales. This has been boosted by the numerous reality based games which have been developed around these sinister looking weapons.

The chase was on between gamers to find better and faster guns, so their feedback gave manufacturers the brief to drop the boring springs which powered these older weapons and find something a bit more explosive. They did just that!

In an effort to mimic the explosiveness of gun powder, manufacturers started installing gas chambers in the pistols. These pushed the bullet out at very realistic speeds, adding to the thrills of the gamers. Airsoft guns took a step closer to being real weapons.

When these air guns were found lacking, manufacturers introduced propane, a very volatile gas in its place, as the driving force for airsoft guns. These guns proved a big hit as even the smells were close to those produced by real weapons being fired.

Still not getting what they wanted from these guns, the users demanded smoke to seep from the fired barrel, and again the manufacturers responded by adding special smoke caps that produce white smoke after firing.

In a bizarre race to bring airsoft guns as close as possible to real weapons, the manufacturers are producing more and more lethal weapons even as we speak. Ironically Japan, one of the major exporters of airsoft weapons, slapped serious laws onto the possession and or firing of these mock weapons. They realized all the potential problems these weapons bring about. They never stopped making or sending them to stores all over the world however. This issue does however lay with the country receiving these toys.

Should you buy one of these weapons, there are a couple of things you should know and keep in mind, especially if you have bought it for a child. Fired from close range, the bullets coming from these guns can penetrate skin and will definitely blind someone if the bullet enters the eye. These guns are not toys anymore and should be used under strict supervision only.

When used properly you can actually have hours and hours of fun playing with airsoft guns. There seems to be a thrill in pulling the trigger pretending to kill another human being. For those who enjoy these thrills, this is the only matter of concern as they see these weapons as totally innocent.

Want To Know About Airsoft Guns

Friday, October 9th, 2009
by Anthony Carter

When thinking of airsoft guns as a hobby, it is important to understand a few things before just rushing out and picking up one of these extremely realistic looking toy guns. For one, these weapons are made to shoot those soft rubber or plastic BBs. These replica guns are very popular among many role-playing, shooter type enthusiasts.

As a category of toy gun, airsoft guns are made to look extremely realistic and many of the most popular models — in handgun, rifle and shotgun versions (including classic military weapons) — are distinguishable from the real thing only by the brightly colored tip at the muzzle.

As far as which types of airsoft guns are the most popular, the top seller is usually the deadly-looking M4 carbine system, with a grenade launcher accessory. For those who like classic rifles of the military variety they can find an AK-47 replica, and the special operations folks can choose from a selection of MP5 carbines. Most rookie enthusiasts usually go for military looking replicas, for some reason.

The manner in which these airsoft guns are used is usually similar to how paintball enthusiasts use their kinds of hobby paint ball shooting guns. Role-playing or team against team competitions with airsoft replica guns is quite common, and with a muzzle velocity of over 300 feet per second the BBs can really get out there and fly around.

Anybody plunking down the money for one of the nicer replica gun setups can also expect to get a number of accessories along with it. Tactical harnesses are a popular accessory, and are used to store extra magazines and BBs along with a spare battery or two. The M4 carbine often comes matched up with and under barrel grenade launcher, by the way. That grenade launcher is quite impressive looking.

Most of the better airsoft guns in this sort of hobby are electric powered by means of a rechargeable battery that is embedded within the weapon. The initial charge for such a battery should be at around four hours. Like many sorts of rechargeable batteries, always make sure to charge it only for as long as is needed and then generally let it run down.

This is because batteries can develop memories, and it would be a shame to be in the middle of an organized competition or firefight and have a battery decided to shut down because it mistakenly thought it was out of charge. Most serious enthusiasts or hobbyist to engage in such shooter games always keep one or two spare batteries in their tactical harness.

When it comes to price, a basic package can be had for around $50 after discounts. Airsoft guns, though, can range up to more than $300 for the very nice models and their accessories that would come with them. Relatively speaking, however, it’s not a lot of money when one considers how much safer and airsoft replica gun can be in comparison to paintballs or traditional copper BBs. Spare soft BBs will also be a consideration, so keep that in mind.

Airsoft Guns And Associated Accessories

Airsoft guns and associated accessories — when considering taking up the use of such toy replica guns that fire soft plastic or rubber BBs — can be fun and exciting pieces of equipment to own when taking up their use as a hobby. These toy weapons have quickly come to match paintball guns as a fun and exciting way to engage in shooter-type games.

Usually, airsoft guns are available as extremely detailed replicas of some of the most popular handgun, shotgun or military rifles in the world. Coming in all shapes and sizes, most folks who buy them usually start out with a military version such as the M4 carbine.

For some reason, most enthusiasts seem to gravitate toward the rifle versions of these airsoft guns. The most popular model of replica gun sold is currently that M4 carbine with an under barrel grenade launcher. Usually, most manufacturers of these kinds of replica guns include a brightly colored tip at the end of the barrel or muzzle. It’s there for a reason.

Airsoft guns can fire off — via means of electric powered pistons — BBs at up to 300 feet per second. This velocity, created in the firing mechanism and that uses air as the propellant for the BB, is sufficient to really send rounds down range and give a role-playing or team on team shoot out excellent realism and excitement.

If the idea of taking up this hobby is becoming more intriguing, then it’s recommended that one go online and look at all of the different models and offerings available to see what sort of get or set up might make sense. Costs can run from $50 for a basic military rifle replica in plastic to over $300 for a finely detailed metal-version with added accessories, which will normally be thrown in for the price.

Depending on what sort of use the airsoft guns are going to be put to (combat-style competitions, team against team shoot outs etc.) there are several pieces of gear that will need to be added. This will include some sort of tactical harness or vest where additional magazines that hold BBs can be stored along with one or two extra battery packs that can be swapped out in the middle of a firefight.

Batteries that are employed for use in airsoft guns are rechargeable and will initially require at least four hours before they can be put into use. After that, keep in mind that it’s a good idea to fully drain the battery before recharging it in order to ensure the battery doesn’t create a faulty memory and shut the weapon down during the middle of a firefight.

Airsoft guns that fire off hundreds of rounds of soft plastic or rubber BBs have become a fun and exciting way to engage in first person shooter competitions and role-playing games for children and adults alike. They can be a cleaner and even safer way to engage in such activities than would normally be found with paintball or traditional copper BB weapons.
